About the Fund
Who we are
We are an open-ended commercial trust fund established in 2017, managed by a Trustee and the Fund Council. The fund was created to honour the memory of our founder, Karel Mareček. Our mission is to support the needs, activities, and education of our beneficiaries and their families, as outlined in the trust deed.
Our logo is more than just a brand, it’s our identity. While it features the initial of our founder, the symbol also represents our core values: dynamism, growth, a focus on the future, and the importance of feedback.

The Trustee is responsible for managing and growing the fund in line with our mission and vision. Supporting them is the Fund Council, which acts as our advisory and supervisory body.
We follow a clear strategy built on a "pyramid" structure:

Execution
This is how we put our plans into action. We focus on specific projects with clear responsibilities, using feedback and modern tools to constantly adjust and improve.
Plan
This is the concrete set of steps we take to reach our goals. Think of it as a map that shows different routes and scenarios to get us where we need to be.
Strategy
This connects our values and vision to real-world objectives. It defines both our destination and the path to get there, while helping us identify potential risks along the way.
Objectives
These are the measurable steps that move us forward. They need to be clear to everyone—inside and outside the organization—so it’s obvious what we’re working toward.
Internal & External Environment
This is about understanding who we are and the world we operate in. We keep a close eye on our customers, competitors, and market trends to stay relevant.
Vision
Our vision is the big picture of where we’re heading. It answers the question, "Where are we going?" and gives our work meaning. It’s our roadmap for the future, updated as we grow and learn.
Mission
This is our "Why." It defines our purpose and keeps us motivated for the long term. While our tactics might change, our mission and character remain constant.
Values
These answer the question, "How do we act?" Our values define what’s truly important to us and guide our daily behavior. They are the heart of our culture.
Together, we are a team dedicated to building on Karel Mareček’s original vision. We support our beneficiaries, their communities, and the foundation that is part of the fund. Every year, we launch key initiatives to hit our long-term goals.
Our "DNA" is rooted in the "here and now" and stands on these four pillars:
The Memory of Our Founder
– We see it as both an honor and a responsibility to build on the foundation Karel Mareček left us. His legacy allows us to grow our activities and support our communities today.
Impact
– We look at the big picture. We don’t just measure success through finances or processes; we care about the real impact we have on people and the community.
Beneficiaries
– The people we serve are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that their personal growth and active involvement are what truly drive the fund forward.
Partnership
– We treat our community and collaborators as true partners. We believe in equal relationships, shared values, and open, honest communication.
Vision and Values
What are our values and visions?
Our Mission – Why We Exist
We are here to honor the legacy of our founder by supporting the lives, activities, and education of our beneficiaries and their families, as defined by our trust deed.
Our Core Values
One Community, One Family
- We believe in cohesion, mutual respect, and a culture of openness throughout the entire Fund.
Sustainability
- We focus on long-term purpose and impact. Everything we do is built on creating genuine business value and delivering real results
Trust
- We build strong relationships—both internally and externally—through transparency, open communication, and a commitment to regular feedback.
Our Vision – Where Are We Heading?
As an open-ended commercial fund, we are a team that actively seeks out opportunities and transforms them into lasting, real-world value.
Karel Mareček
Who was Karl?
Karel Mareček (11 January 1961 – 18 July 2024). Karel Mareček was the co-founder and long-serving CEO of BD SENSORS, a prominent Moravian company specializing in electronics for pressure measurement. Under his visionary leadership, the company grew from a local enterprise into an internationally recognized brand. His passing on 18 July 2024, at his home in Salaš at the age of 63, left a significant void both in the local community and within the industry.
From an early age, Karel stood out for his exceptional determination and a strong inner drive “to achieve something extraordinary in life.” After completing his university studies and gaining his first professional experience, he decided in 1993 to realize his vision and, together with Libor Šimoník, co-founded BD SENSORS. Throughout his career, he played a key role in building a modern and innovative manufacturing operation. Under his guidance, BD SENSORS invested heavily in factory digitalization, the development of proprietary modules, and expansion into demanding international markets. Today, the company supplies instruments for projects with exceptional requirements; devices from their Buchlovice plant have even contributed to space missions and the development of nanosatellites.
Karel was an award-winning entrepreneur, and in 2018, he received the EY Technology Entrepreneur of the Year award, recognizing his ability to combine technical expertise with entrepreneurial thinking to build a competitive, export-oriented company. During his tenure, BD SENSORS achieved significant milestones, celebrated major anniversaries, and strengthened its position within its international group.
His deep interest in technical innovation extended far beyond his core business activities. In collaboration with an independent Czech watchmaker, he contributed to the creation of original mechanical watches based on a technically unconventional principle. The concept and technical design of the timepiece stemmed from Karel’s visionary thinking, while the horological craftsmanship was brought to life by watchmaker Luděk Seryn. The result was an exceptional model named “Karel Rotation,” which combined precision engineering with high-end watchmaking. For Karel, this watch became a symbol of the joy of experimentation, the search for new paths, and the courage to push beyond the established boundaries of technical solutions.
He never viewed his role solely through the lens of business, but actively engaged in regional projects and supported education. He backed initiatives such as the “Region 47” campus project, which he saw as a vital way to attract and retain young talent in the area.
Over the long term, he contributed—both personally and financially—to the preservation of regional heritage, traditions, and local identity. Within the Skanzen complex, he established the Center of Slovácko Traditions, which includes a museum of winemaking and distilling, a growers’ distillery, and a modernly conceived distillery. This project significantly enriched the region’s cultural presentation and local tourism, offering visitors insight into the richness of local craftsmanship through tasting trails for wines and spirits, a wine cellar, and specialized exhibitions.
Alongside these professional and regional commitments, Karel had a personal fascination with Damascus steel—its unique properties and craftsmanship—which led to a deeper interest in historical weapons and traditional artisanal production. A significant part of his life’s work was also his long-term support of local community life.
He actively supported the Salaš Volunteer Fire Brigade (SDH Salaš), which he regarded as an indispensable pillar of both safety and community cohesion. He likewise stood behind the activities of the Mycological Club in Salaš, fostering a connection to nature and the local landscape. On his initiative, the KPS Salaš association was established to connect people, develop social life in the municipality, and create space for intergenerational engagement. He did not view this support as a formal gesture, but as a natural responsibility toward the place where he lived and which he considered his home.
Within the municipality and among his colleagues, he was regarded as someone who willingly shared his experience and openly supported the development of the local environment. Despite the demands of his daily work, he was able to preserve his personal passions. He enjoyed flying and powerful cars, which for him symbolized freedom, dynamism, and forward momentum—values that accompanied him throughout his life. His favorite place, however, remained his home in Salaš: a house with a beautiful garden that he designed himself and where he loved to spend his precious free time. He deeply loved his home region, especially Salaš and Buchlovice, and within the company, he placed great emphasis on team culture, quality, and responsibility. He was also mindful of protecting his privacy, keeping his professional and personal lives clearly separate.
We remember Karel Mareček as a remarkable personality, a brilliant entrepreneur, and the father of three sons he leaves behind, a man who was able to combine strong local roots with a global vision, and technological courage with a human, though distinctive, approach. Many who worked with him or knew him will remember his energy, his emphasis on quality, and his desire to push the boundaries of what is possible.

They play a vital role in approving key decisions and ensuring that every step taken aligns with the long-term interests of the organization and the people it serves.
Benjamin Szőllős – Member of the Fund Council
As a representative of NIVELCO, a long-standing business partner of BD SENSORS, Benjamin has served on the Fund Council since 2025, specifically representing the customer’s perspective.
For "Benji," as he is known, the trust placed in him through this role is both a great honour and a significant responsibility. While his position is primarily representative, he is deeply committed to upholding and advancing the values shared by the founder and the Fund’s leadership, specifically a dedication to personal growth through education and sport, a sense of responsibility toward the region, and genuine care for the people within this community.
NIVELCO and BD SENSORS share stable business ties, similar roots, and a closely aligned philosophy. Both companies are of comparable size, serve similar customers within the same industry, and have cooperated for over two decades.
They both leverage the latest development and manufacturing technologies with a single goal: delivering the highest quality to their customers. These shared standards continue to be a powerful source of inspiration for everyone involved.
Benji was born into the NIVELCO family business as the grandson of the CEO and the son of the Vice President and Regional Manager. However, the history and principles connecting the two companies were not the only things that brought Karel Mareček, Peter Debnár, and Benji together. Their shared passion for racing, a mutual enthusiasm for motorsport and competitive skiing, created a natural and lasting bond. It is a perfect example of how personal passions and shared values can deepen and strengthen professional relationships.
Olga Rothröckelová – Member of the Fund Council
Olga was elected to the Fund Council in late 2025, taking on the responsibility for finance and economics. Her career spans decades of experience in financial leadership across a wide range of industries.
She has held key positions in both agile startups like SolarWinds and Kiwi.com, and large multinational corporations such as Mubea and Saab. Today, Olga is dedicated to sharing her expertise, not only within her professional teams but also through educational courses for the public. She is particularly passionate about mentoring children and young people, seeing them as a reflection of our society’s maturity and the key to our future.
Although she never had the chance to meet Karel Mareček personally, Olga finds his legacy incredibly vibrant and alive through his family and the work of the Fund. The impact Karel had on his community is a deep source of inspiration for her. This connection to community is something Olga lives out herself; she is an active member of a local association in her own municipality, where she works to preserve regional traditions and the many stories shared during their gatherings.
After a long and successful career in the commercial sector, Olga recently shifted her focus toward a more mission-driven path. She now serves as the Chief Financial Officer of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, a role that perfectly aligns her financial expertise with her desire to create a lasting positive impact.
Kristina Olivová – Member of the Fund Council.
Kristina has been a member of the Fund Council since its inception, having been appointed to the position by the founder himself. In her role, she oversees all legal and professional administrative matters across every area of the Fund’s activities.
She also serves as the Chair of the Fund Council meetings.
As an attorney and partner at her law firm, Kristina brings extensive expertise to the Fund and serves on the statutory body of the holding company. She is a firm believer in traditional values approached with a modern mindset, a philosophy that forms the foundation of both her professional and personal relationships. For her, trust, respect, and integrity are the most important guiding principles.
Karel Mareček influenced and inspired Kristina in many ways, particularly through his diligence, his passion for his work, and his openness to visions that others might have found unimaginable. He often spoke of planning in "decades," always maintaining a clear sense of direction.
Reflecting on their early collaboration, Kristina notes: “Karel operated on a handshake, formalities only slowed his momentum and that was where our worlds initially collided. Over time, I came to understand his perspective, and it became clear that our cooperation was built on absolute trust and mutual respect. This brought me back to my own core values.” Through their joint efforts, initiatives emerged, and continue to emerge, that carry Karel’s vision forward on a solid, lasting foundation.
Beyond her professional commitments, Kristina embraces her most important role: being a mother. she enjoys traveling, nature, music, sports, great food, and art. “Managing everything can be a challenge,” she admits, “but with a strong support system, a supportive husband, and clear priorities, it’s possible to handle and truly enjoy, far more than you might imagine.”
Daniela Minaříková – Member of the Fund Council
Daniela has been involved with the Fund since its very beginning. As the long-term partner of the founder, she was invited by Karel himself in late 2022 to join the Council as the representative of the beneficiaries. Her primary role is to act as a vital link between the family, the Trustee, and the Fund Council, fostering open and clear communication among them. She is dedicated to listening to the suggestions and feedback of the beneficiaries, ensuring their wishes are addressed with sensitivity and reflected in the Fund’s daily operations. Daniela views this role as both demanding and deeply enriching, built above all on a foundation of trust and mutual understanding.
Two pillars define Daniela’s life: family and work. Her family has always been her source of stability, while her professional life provides a space where she can apply her experience and a truly human approach. She spent nearly 25 years at BD SENSORS, where she grew professionally, contributed to the company’s success, and led a team that inspired her as much as she inspired them. For Daniela, empathy, open communication, and mutual respect are the values that matter most.
For many years, Karel was both her partner in life and a prominent figure in her professional world. Through his energy and natural leadership, he helped her refine her sense of precision and perseverance, qualities that were already part of her character. He also encouraged her to become more active in the local community and participate in social and municipal life. Through him, she discovered a love for nature; hiking and exploring the beauty of their home region and the distinctive Šumava Mountains became a source of calm and inspiration, helping her find a healthy balance between her professional and personal life.
After years of working within a large organization, Daniela now applies her extensive experience to independent, person-focused activities. She cherishes the time spent with her close family and friends and finds joy in hiking, working with children on educational projects, and engaging with seniors. She is also deeply involved in organizing community events that bring people together and strengthen local bonds.
Community
How Are We Connected to the Region?
From the very beginning, our goal has been to support activities within the region and the communities we naturally belong to. This commitment forms one of the fundamental pillars of how we operate and is deeply embedded in our principle of partnership, which we consider a core part of our DNA. We see the community and our close collaborators as true partners, building relationships based on shared values, equality, and a joint pursuit of solutions.
We support a wide range of communities, associations, and organizations—not only within our region but beyond. A key prerequisite for any cooperation is alignment in values, goals, and the purpose of support, all rooted in the founder’s legacy and reflecting the Fund’s values, mission, and vision.
Based on this foundation, we focus on supporting the region through various initiatives: fostering the development of innovative new generations of watches, preparing a museum, backing the municipalities of Salaš and Modrá in their activities and associations, and sustaining the Center of Slovácko Traditions. We also dedicate long-term efforts to supporting young people and students, especially in entrepreneurship and education, through our foundation fund.
